Named after Mt. Olympus, the Games were sacred games held for religious purposes in honor of Zeus, the father of gods and people.
Visit the birthplace of the Olympic Games, a UNESCO World Heritage site with magnificent ancient monuments which ancient Greeks used as worship centers, sports and festival centers. Take a guided tour of the breathtaking Temple of Zeus and Temple of Hera and test your strengths in the Stadium where the start and finish lines are still clearly visible.
Learn about one of the Seven Wonders of Ancient World, the Statue of Zeus which was erected by the Greek sculptor Phidias and explore a museum that houses some the most beautiful sculpture of antiquity.
